Beliefs
We have provided this page to help you know where Sylvan Oaks stands in our statement of faith. This information will not include everything that we believe at SOCC, but it will give you a foundation for understanding what we teach. We are also including passages from the Bible with each item to help you know more about these statements. If you require further information or you have other questions, please let us know.
We Believe:
God:
We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (II Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus:
His divine nature (John 1:1) His virgin birth (Luke 1:30-35) His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15) His miracles (Acts 2:22) His death on the cross and that death completing our salvation (I Peter 1:18-19) His bodily resurrection (Acts 1:3) and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11).
Holy Spirit:
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit dwelling in the lives of Christians to lead them in godly living. (Ephesians 3:16)
Salvation:
Salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Church:
We believe that the primary mission of the church is to connect the unconnected to Christ, (Matthew 28:19-20); and we believe that Christians are to express Christ’s love in the world and meet other’s needs with compassion and love. (Titus 3:8)
The Bible:
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, inspired by God and our only source of guidance and truth. (II Timothy 3:16)
